#71: The Heart of Jesus – Ep. 1
He is probably the most known person in the world. We hear a lot about his death, but know little about his life and what he actually taught. Some say he was a Christian, others that he was a yogi. Some claim he was God, others that he was a lover of God. And some even see his life as mere fairy tales.
Who was Jesus? And what was the heart of his teachings?
We explore the many misconceptions surrounding Jesus’ life and teachings and reflect upon the commercialization of Christmas and the overshadowing of its spiritual significance. You’ll get an insight into Jesus’s humble beginnings, his inclinations toward spiritual matters from a young age, and the importance of glorifying the Supreme Father – not Jesus by himself. We discuss Jesus’ focus on the kingdom of God and how he challenged people’s attachment to material wealth.
Jesus’ message was love, humility, and service to God–values that we all need more of in our lives. Regardless of our age, nationality, or religion.
This is the first episode of our new series ‘The Heart of Jesus’ that we will publish at least until Christmas.
Highlights:
- (6:06) The appearance of Lord Jesus Christ; innkeepers provided space in an animal shed and Jesus was born in a most humble setting
- (16:34) Jesus display of wisdom at young age stirred curiosity about his identity. Jesus is the son of God, not the Father Himself.
- (26:12) “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free”
- (32:05) The fear-based aspect of Christianity is a completely misrepresentation of Jesus’ core message
- (44:39) “It’s harder for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God than to thread a camel through the eye of a needle”
- (55:26) On Christmas we should honor Jesus, not least by showing love towards all others. Traditional values are sadly more and more eroded.
Recorded on December 18, 2021.
